Mario | Sharing Christ’s Love Across Continents

At Alpha, we hold the belief that evangelism should be an integral part of every Christian’s daily life. With the Lord’s boldness and wisdom, we are able to take advantage of every opportunity to share the gospel with those around us, as well as with people all over the world. We hope that this message from Mario Singh, founder of the Soulrich Foundation, and supporter of Alpha, will inspire you to embrace the spirit of evangelism in your own life.

Sharing Christ’s Love Across Continents
by Mario Singh

I believe that effective sharing only comes out of personal delight. The Bible says to taste and see that the Lord is good. It is only when we have truly grasped the love of Christ in our hearts can we then be powerful witnesses for Him. In every opportunity that I have, I would try to share the love of Christ to the people. I have a few stories to share which would hopefully encourage you to do the same.

Story 1: The Unexpected Conversion

I have been working with my colleague for many years, and he knows that I am a follower of Jesus. I have shared the gospel with him many times, but he never seemed interested. However, God had a different plan for him.

In May 2023, we went on a business trip to Africa together. There, God opened an amazing door for me to share about the spirit of excellence at Hope Media, Kenya’s Christian broadcasting station. I was invited to speak on air to the audience about how God has blessed our work and how we can glorify Him in everything we do.

My colleague was with me during the broadcast, and he heard me talk about Christ to several groups of people whom I met for the first time in Africa. I could sense that he was curious and impressed by what he saw and heard.

On our way back to the airport, I felt the prompting of the Lord to invite my colleague to receive Christ. I was nervous and unsure how he would react, but I obeyed and asked him if he wanted to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior. To my surprise, he said yes and he prayed with me to invite Jesus into his heart.

I was overjoyed and amazed by what God had done. He had turned a business trip into a mission trip. He had used me as His instrument to bring my colleague to Christ. He had shown His grace and power in an unexpected way. All glory to Jesus!

Story 2: Shining the light of Christ

Many people in rural areas of South East Asia live in darkness, both literally and spiritually. They have little or no access to electricity, and they have not heard the good news of Jesus Christ. Soulrich Foundation, a Christian organization that my wife and I have started, aims to enrich the souls of the poor and needy and has launched a project called “Let There Be Light” to address this issue.

The project involves sending solar lamps to homes in Myanmar that have a genuine need for light. The lamps are not only practical, but also symbolic. They come with a sticker that shows John 8:12, where Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” The project also partners with “Our Daily Bread”, a ministry that provides devotional booklets to help people grow in their faith.

Since December 2022, Soulrich Foundation has sent over 2,000 solar lamps to homes in Myanmar, reaching both believers and non-believers. The response has been overwhelming. Many villagers have expressed their gratitude and joy upon receiving the lamps. Some have even shared their testimonies of how God has touched their hearts through the project.

One of them is Ms Tin Ma, who lives in a remote village. She says, “We had to spend USD0.20 daily to rent a battery box before the solar lamps came. The donors’ kindness has given our families light and our houses brightness in this poor community. We are sincerely thankful to those who help us in this difficult time of living.”

I love this quote by C.S Lewis, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”

We all have the privilege and delight to be a light for Christ in this world. I pray that you will be inspired to be a light for Christ today and every day.

Mario and his family
Soulrich Foundation’s project is an example of how we can sow a seed of God’s truth and love in someone’s heart, and give them an opportunity to know that there is hope in Jesus. Sometimes, all it takes is a simple gesture of kindness and generosity to shine the light of Christ in the darkness.

When we show God’s love through our words and actions, we are pointing them to Jesus, who is the source of all love and kindness.

The Bible invites us to share the good news of Jesus, and every Christian can join this amazing mission. May we never be afraid nor give up on sharing the gospel with the people around us, such as our family, friends and colleagues. We can demonstrate the gospel with our actions and shine His light in our own ways. We can smile at a stranger, help a neighbour, give a compliment, say a prayer, offer a hug, or share a meal. We can be generous, compassionate, humble, and forgiving.

Let us continue to share the good news of Jesus Christ and show His love through small acts of kindness everyday.
